Details for JOMO: Digital Mindfulness Retreat Mexico 2020
6pm Saturday, March 28 through 10am Saturday, April 4, 2020
Present Moment is a charming, chic hotel and yoga retreat center located on a quiet, serene beach in Playa Troncones, thirty minutes up the coast from Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
From their website: “Present Moment Retreat is a powerfully transformative environment providing experiential training in the cultural arts.
Surrounded by the magnificence of earth’s natural beauty, people from around the world come here to grow towards wholeness in their lives. We are dedicated to fostering deep awareness and appreciation of life through the compassionate treatment of all beings, and promoting wisdom and peace in celebration of the human spirit.”
The world of competition and corporate bottom lines drives us to extremes. We need to come home to ourselves, and we need to disconnect and recharge, but it’s increasingly difficult to do so. When not used mindfully, our tech can sap our focus, productivity, creativity and, ultimately, our impact. Embracing the Joy of Missing Out is essential for success in all aspects of how we love, live and lead. Joy, by definition, is “the emotion evoked by well-being, success and the prospect of possessing what one desires.” It’s what we all want.
You have 365 days this year. Imagine spending 7 of them in a tropical paradise surrounded by thoughtful people set on making their days count too. Imagine conversations and clarity. Imagine tools for real-life scenarios that will go to work for you immediately. You get to choose who wins this year: you or your devices.
Award-winning Author Christina Crook (JOMO) and Psychotherapist and Community Organizer Christina Malecka (Unplug. Reconnect. Restore: Digital Mindfulness Retreats) are teaming up to bring you this one-of-a-kind 7-day retreat for a deeply restorative experience that will change your life.
Imagine yourself totally unplugged and held in community in one of the most beautiful places in the world for a week of:
Education: to help you understand the personal and professional costs of your digital devices
Meditation: because mindfulness is the opposite of distraction and the key to tech/life balance
Connection and Community: deeply engage with yourself and others and make life-long friends
Yoga: to embody your in-the-moment awareness
Adventure: to reclaim the joy and excitement of childhood
Self-Discovery: to help you identify and articulate your personal values and sources of joy
Empowerment: to provide you with tools and strategies to stay digitally connected on your own terms
Rest: to counteract exhaustion, digital overwhelm and toxic hustle
What to Expect
You will be asked to turn over your digital devices on Sunday morning and will enjoy being tech-free for 5 days, followed by 2 days of digital declutter, practicing digital mindfulness skills in real time. There will be an emergency number for your loved ones to use if they need to get in touch with you during this time.
Because we understand that for many of us, keeping up with the news is important, we will monitor the New York Times and other news sources for breaking stories and update participants who want to know what's going on in the world during the retreat time. It is also ok to opt out of this. If you have other needs for saying in touch with family or kids during the retreat, that can also be arranged.

How Much Will it Cost?
Way, way too much. The price of living as a servant to our digital devices is astronomical.
We all pay with something: our time, attention, energy, relationships, sleep, mental health, happiness, and more.
It's time to take back the investment and bank on something better: your values, your goals, your joy.
